I have been living in Ellsworth, ME since 2000 with my husband and rearing our three daughters. I have been working full time for 18 years as an RN while my husband is working as a CPA.

I've always had the joy of drawing since early childhood. Only in my early 30's did I begin experimenting with paint and teaching myself how to paint with a ninety-nine cent Crayola watercolor packet, so I believe anyone can paint. Now I am painting with acrylic, oil, watercolor, and painting with dyes on silk.

With my children getting older, I am able to devote more time to painting, and am discovering the peace and joy that comes with painting. To be able to share what I've created with others is something that makes me feel truly alive. Creating is what I believe I was created for. The more I paint, the more rejuvenated I feel to paint even more.

We are a group of individuals, from teens to seniors, that gather once a week to draw, paint, create and converse about the visual arts. There are no fees, just bring in your projects and supplies. We encourage and learn from each other and plan to have future art exhibits featuring works produced by the art group.

The art group started approximately three years ago to help teens, seniors and everyone in between gather once a week to create art work. It's purpose is to give people in our community the opportunity to create great works of good, clean art in a relaxed atmoshphere, where we encourage, teach and share with each other our talents, tricks and knowledge. Whether it is with drawing, painting or any other media, we hope to help others to discover their individual unique creative style.

The Acadia Art Sanctuary art group currently meets Monday evenings at Ellsworth Assembly of God on Beechland Road in Ellsworth. Most of the artists who participate in the Art Group have graciously granted permission for their work to be showcased here.

Acadia Art Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 non-profit organized for the purpose of establishing an art center in Ellsworth, Maine. The organization has held weekly art classes since September 2008 (except for summers), at a number of different locations.
