Barbara Buza
BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Barbara is a visual artist at heart, living in Ellsworth for the past 11 years as an RN of 16+ years, 11 of which were working at both MDI and Blue Hill Memorial Hospitals. She is raising a family of three girls with her husband Kevin, a CPA. Approximately 2 years ago she started a group with artists gathering once a week to paint, teach and share ideas. Some drawing, painting in a variety of mediums, helping each other with different skill levels and ages. She is now a volunteer at the Ellsworth High School, helping the students with art projects Thursdays after school from 3:00 to 6:30, guiding, helping, and encouraging students and adults; just having fun being creative, encouraging each other to discover their style and unique talent and interest. Her passion is with silk painting, painting the Bible, starting at Genesis 1:1 and continuing with the verses, word for word, actually on the painting, which is on a piece of silk. The silk is bought by the bolt, white in color, then stretched out on PVC piping--much like you would when making a quilt and painting on it with dyes and resists. Most silks are 6 feet high and 44 inches wide, the colors appears like stained glass when displayed in a windows with the light coming through. The silk shows its best colors with the sun shining through, just as we are at our best with the Son shining through us.
